A Study of the Effect of the Play Therapist¡¯s Job Stress on the Therapeutic Relationship

Abstract
This study was to investigate the effect of play therapist¡¯s job stress on the therapeutic relationship. The subjects of this study were 110 play therapists. The collected data were analyzed by multi-regression analysis. The result showed that play therapist who did not have job challenge and had much experience of role ambiguousness, the degree of positive emotional relationship between child and therapist is lower. When the play therapist did not have job challenge, a higher negative emotional relationship was shown between child and therapist. When the play therapist did not have job challenge and had much experience of role conflict, the degree of therapeutic relationship between parents and therapist is lower. The play therapist, who has higher role conflict and excessive work load, showed a lower degree of positive emotional relationship with parents. The play therapist who has higher role ambiguousness and role conflict showed higher negative emotional relationship with parents.
